【社评】Myanmar government agreed to build a specially protected area for the Rohingyas.

During the topic of the Rohingya issue, Myanmar with an amount of Southeast countries has announced a document about some solutions which are based on dealing with the issue of Rohingya refugees.
In the document, Myanmar, as a main character, declared that they were willing to “build a specially protected area for the Rohingyas”, and promised that “all the financial help offered by other countries will be used to improve the living conditions of Rohingyas.” In addition, they also promised that they would “build up protection zone for the Rohingya people to ensure of their life security.”
We think it is a good result for Myanmar that they would take some actions to protect those Rohingya refugees.
However, we had a short interview with Myanmar after the document published, during which the delegate of Myanmar said: “The Rohingya refugees can be divided into 3 parts. One is ones still living in our country. Another is ones drifting in the sea. The third one is ones who has already been accepted by other countries. Since what we could not give aids to all of them. Nevertheless, we are really willing to provide aids to some of them with basic supplies, and protect them from danger.” After that, we asked Myanmar if they were willing to accept the Rohingya people as their civics. However, the answer was no, and the reasons was “We are supposed to do everything based on the civil rights, for what we can not accept the Rohingyas as our civics, but we will offer them protection.”
Besides, the neighbors of Myanmar in Southeast Asia also agreed with this solution, and they were also willing to provide aids to the Rohingya refugees, including offering places, basic substances such as food and water, and security protection.
What’s more, they strongly condemned the migrant smuggling and human trafficking. Therefore, they were calling for UN Members to supplement the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, as well as the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons to help combat human traffic.
We think, no matter it is a Southeast country or an European country, the countries all over the world are attempting to take various actions in order to protect those Rohingya refugees and enhance the security border for their civics. We are glad to see this phenomenon. However, there are also some deficiencies of them. For example, most of the countries said that they would like to accept only some refugees of a specific amount. However, this phenomenon will cause a problem that there will still be many refugees who have no accommodations. Therefore, we think this is still an issue being dealt with.
We Reuters has a bright prospect of the Rohingya issue, and we are happy to see the announcement those countries made. However, facing the problems that were not solved, we are looking forward to the actions they will take in the future.
